Cape Elizabeth School Department is dedicated to keeping parents, students, and the community informed. As such, we utilize a variety of tools to stay in touch. Many of these tools provide for translation into a variety of languages. We'd like to update you on a few changes that have been made recently and provide information to assist you as you access communications from schools and the district.
Website
The main and most important platform that we use is our website. We've recently redesigned the website to make links more discoverable, prominent, and easy to find. For instance, there are four buttons along the top (on a phone, right at the top; on a desktop, on the top right-hand corner) that align with specific roles. These all lead to a page that provides the most commonly requested information.
We also use a couple of tools to "push" information, that is to send information directly to our parents and community. These usually go out as text messages (SMS) or emails.
SchoolMessenger
We use SchoolMessenger to send our broadcasts about happenings and important events. These messages can be sent via text (SMS), email, or phone calls. Most of our messages are sent via email. In order to ensure that you receive the emails, please allow the address (broadcasts@schoolmessengermail.com) in your email client.
SchoolMessenger also has an app that parents can utilize. The SchoolMessenger app allows schools and school districts to inform you about school-related emergencies, school closures, attendance or other school-related issues.
SchoolMessenger App Overview
Once you've created your account (you MUST use the same email account you’ve provided to use in PowerSchool), we'll automatically link the records associated with your email address. You can then:
View the records associated with your account - student, staff, parent records.
Review the last 30 days-worth of broadcast messages for all your associated records.
View your contact information and configure how you would like to receive notifications.
SchoolMessenger Parent Preferences
ReachMyTeach
ReachMyTeach is another powerful tool. This allows easy two way communication. Many teachers utilize this tool. This allows parents and community members to select HOW they receive information (WhatsApp, email, text) and in which language.
If you’re a family member receiving messages from ReachMyTeach, your school has already set up your account. You can log in using any of the following methods:
Instant Login via Message Link: Click the link at the bottom of a recent message from ReachMyTeach to be taken directly to your parent portal in your preferred language.
With ReachMyTeach you can always directly respond to any message from a teacher by replying to the email or text you received. If you are a multilingual family, you will see all messages in English and your preferred language, you can respond in whichever language is most comfortable.
To be sure that you receive messages from ReachMyTeach, please allow emails from @schools.reachmyteach.com . Also, be sure you haven't unsubscribed. If you unsubscribed, you can turn your emails/texts back on by going to
Login with your email or phone number and click the gear in the upper right.
Attendance Notification
Each of our schools also sends out automated attendance notification about absent students. These notifications will come from noreply@capeelizabethschools.org
